Firstly this essay will look at the difference between coaching and mentoring. Both coaching and mentoring are processes that allow both individual and schools to achieve their full potential. Coaching and mentoring share many similarities. Both coaching and mentoring explore the needs, motivations, desires, skills and feelings of the individual.
Mentoring for a mentor can also help build leadership skill because it helps develop the ability to motivate and encourage others. Another benefit for the mentor is improving communication skills because the mentee may come from different environment or background and the mentor and mentee may not speak the mentor the same language, which leads.
Coaching- pros and cons Each of the leadership styles has advantages and disadvantages. The company with coaching leadership style will provide a very positive workplace environment to the followers which will help the employees to identify both strength and weaknesses.
In my essay I am going to look closely at my skill and qualities in order to evaluate my own potential for leadership and draw conclusion based on this, which I hopefully will all be positive. I would say that through different experiences, such as sport, school, family household and general life, I have learned and demonstrated various leadership skills.
Mentoring is an effective tool to foster professional development to both the mentor and mentee. The practice of mentoring beginning teachers emerged in the 1980s as a professional development strategy for achieving a variety of goals. Teacher mentoring programs are now perceived as an effective staff development approach for beginning teachers.
For the mentor, the benefits may be more subtle. It is always nice to feel that we are doing something valuable and supporting someone else. A mentoring relationship may also be a useful opportunity to work on a leadership style, particularly coaching, or other communication skills without comments from co-workers about the change.
Mentoring is a process that develops over time (41), a complex, reciprocal relationship between a mentor and mentee that has potential for successful personal and professional development (42-45). Mentoring in nursing leadership and management can be described simply as leaders developing leaders (46).
